 Seafood Bastilla is a famous traditional Moroccan dish often served during special occasions and celebrations. It’s a rich and delicious recipe made with seafood and a unique blend of flavors. Here’s a simple recipe to prepare seafood bastilla:


✅️Ingredients:

For the Filling:
500g white fish (such as cod or any firm fish), cut into small pieces
250g shrimp, peeled
250g squid, cut into rings
250g vermicelli noodles (rice or glass noodles)
2 medium onions, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon ginger powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon saffron threads (optional, for authentic flavor)
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Salt to taste
Olive oil for sautΓ©ing

For the Bastilla:
10-12 sheets of filo pastry or warqa (traditional Moroccan pastry)
1/2 cup melted butter for brushing
1 egg yolk (for sealing the pastry)

1️⃣. Prepare the Filling:
In a large pan, heat some olive oil and sautΓ© the onions and garlic until translucent.
Add the white fish, shrimp, and squid. Season with ginger, black pepper, paprika, and salt. Stir well and cook until seafood is tender.
Soak the vermicelli noodles in hot water until soft, then drain and cut into smaller pieces. Add them to the pan with parsley, cilantro, and saffron (if using). Mix thoroughly and set aside to cool.


2️⃣. Assemble the Bastilla:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Brush a baking dish with butter and layer several filo pastry sheets, brushing each with melted butter.
Place the seafood filling in the center and spread it evenly.
Fold the edges of the filo sheets over the filling to close the bastilla. Use the egg yolk to seal the pastry.
Brush the top with melted butter.


3️⃣. Bake the Bastilla:
Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Let it cool slightly before serving. You can garnish it with lemon wedges or sprinkle it with a bit of powdered sugar and cinnamon for a traditional touch.
